The inaugural International Congress of Basic Science (ICBS) will be held in Beijing from July 16 to July 28, 2023, under the theme of "Advancing Science for Humanity." This historic event marks the first international congress for basic science wholly conceptualized and hosted within China. It will bring together leading scientists from around the world in an effort to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange. The Congress focuses on three branches of basic science: mathematics, theoretical physics, and theoretical computer and information sciences.
The opening and award ceremonies of the ICBS will be held at the prestigious Great Hall of the People in Beijing on July 16. Subsequent events and lectures will take place at the Yanqi Lake Beijing Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Applications (BIMSA), situated in Huairou Science City, approximately an hour's drive from the city center.
Expectations are high, with an estimated attendance of approximately 1000 participants, including 300 distinguished scholars,8 Fields Medalists and 4Turing Medal winners, 1 Nobel laureates, and numerous academicians from China, the United States, and European nations. The program spans 13 days and will feature hundreds of lectures, satellite meetings, and engaging exchange events.
